The NSC Lottery WILL OPEN Jan. 6 for the 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR.

The 2026-2027 North Star College annual lottery opens on Jan. 6, 2026 and closes Feb. 23, 2026. The processing of lottery applications for approval will begin Feb. 25.  Parents and students of approved applications will be contacted via the email used to apply to the lottery starting Feb. 26, 2026.  Please check your email often and respond accordingly to keep the process timely and efficient for all involved.

Those who meet minimum qualifications (2.5 cumulative GPA & on track to graduate) will be selected through a random lottery process. Selected students are required to take the mandatory university placement exams upon admission. Students will be enrolled in pre-selected required cohort classes. They will also choose additional classes from a wide selection of courses at UAF. A district school counselor and a university academic advisor will work together to help students select appropriate classes to maintain their high school graduation track and pursue post-secondary interests.

If you are applying North Star College and DO NOT CURRENTLY ATTEND an FNSBSD school, please email current transcripts to stacey.kennedy@k12northstar.org to expedite the approval process.

NOTE: If these deadlines are missed and you're still interested in attending NSC for the 26-27 school year, the lottery will reopen from March 23, 2026-Aug.1, 2026. Applications will be placed on the lottery waitlist and then processed for eligibility as enrollment allows.  Our lottery will only be open for enrollment for incoming juniors and seniors during the Jan. 6-Aug. 1, 2026 timeframe or as enrollment capacity allows.  We will not be accepting applications for juniors or seniors for second semester.
